Three Rivers is safer year on year
Overall crime results for the Three Rivers area have revealed that residents’ safety has increased by 10 per cent safer in the space of 12 months, though domestic burglary had increased.
The results for the April to September 2009 period showed there was a total of 2,047 incidents in Three Rivers compared to 2,313 for the same period the previous year.
The latest crime rate means that there were less than 25 crimes per 1,000 people during the half year period and is the lowest level in Hertfordshire.
Sue Thompson, Three Rivers Neighbourhood Watch, said: "Despite an extra three burglaries in the district the overall trend is strongly downwards. Burglary is a particular risk during the Christmas period as thieves look for signs that people have gone out for the evening or have packages stored under Christmas trees or packaging left next to bins in full view."
