Students design new clock for Watford

Students at Westfield Community Technology College have designed a clock for Arriva’s Watford depot to celebrate the changes to services in the town.

James Putman, 18, and Amy Bolton, 17, designed the clock for the bus company’s depot on St Albans Road, following an appeal for local artists and designers to create a clock to act as a focal point at the bus garage.

Linsey Frostick, regional marketing manager for Arriva the Shires and Essex, said: “James and Amy’s clock is now the showpiece of our Watford depot and it seems fitting to launch it to mark our call for drivers to catch the bus and leave the car at home.

The clock is now displayed outside Arriva’s Watford depot and features a hornet, to signify Watford’s Hornets football team, as well as the Bushey Arches.

James said: “I am delighted that Arriva chose our design as the winner and it’s great to have our hard work recognized and displayed in the town. We enjoyed spending an afternoon at the Arriva depot and seeing where the clock is displayed.
