Pensioners' Forum tackles crime prevention
The Three Rivers Pensioners’ Forum held its latest meeting on Friday 13 June and heard from Crime Prevention Officer Gary Sibson, who spoke to the group about distraction burglaries and top tips to stay safe.
Around fifty pensioners from across the district came along to the meeting to hear from Gary and other speakers, including Charlotte Masters and Nick Denham from the District Council's Leisure Department, and David Muir from Watford Heart Support Group.
Charlotte and Nick made sure the group were aware of the range of fitness, craft and leisure activities on offer throughout the summer, with particular emphasis on the popular Everyday Active programme and David spoke to the group about heart health and the support available from the Watford Heart Support Group.
Councillor Paul Goggins, the District Council’s pensioners’ champion and chairman of the Pensioners’ Forum, said: “We’re delighted that this meeting proved useful and informative for everyone who attended. Staying safe and staying fit and healthy are key issues for older residents, and meetings such as this are important in ensuring they are aware of the services available to them."
The Pensioners’ Forum meets three times per year to discuss a range of issues and hear from a variety of speakers. The next meeting will take place on Friday 24 October.
