March for lost children

Posted by news desk in Local News, 9th July 2008, 2:50pm

Mothers who have lost sons and daughters in Afghanistan marched through Rickmansworth and Croxley Green on July 9 and also headed through Watford as part of a march to raise cash for the families of dead serviceman.

The 30-strong group are walking 100 miles from Surrey to Duxford, in Cambridgeshire under the slogan "100 miles for nine smiles" - in memory of the nine soldiers who died between March and October 2007 in Afghanistan.

The march has been organised by Christine Bonner, whose son Darren died in a landmine explosion on Bank Holiday Monday, in May last year.
